Costa Rica planted 7 million new trees last year as part of its efforts to become the world's first carbon neutral country, which it is scheduled to do in 2021.
Costa Rica has excellent artisans who make beautiful bowls and other objects from the tropical hardwoods. I will show an example tomorrow, as I will continue this little wood theme for a few days.
On our Viva la Voyage travel photo site this week we are showing the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. If you have not been there, please check out the our website this week. You are in for a treat.

I like how the light shines through the canopy! Grea image for today's theme!
7 million new trees, that worth applauding.
That's an amazing tree! Great WOOD theme day snap!
Trees are the nerve centers of the land, aren't they? You really capture that in this theme day entry.
I remember these trees very well. They are quite amazing in their root structure. And, of course, I have a few pieces of their wood craftsmanship. I love the way they combine woods to make colorful pieces.
A very nice theme day shot, Dave...looks like one of our Florida ficus trees...or maybe a cypress...
This tree is really neat with the roots comng down along the ground. I guess those are part of the root system.
What a beautiful tree. Gorgeous shot. Am so pleased to read that Costa Rica has planted all those trees. Brilliant.
magnificent tree and great information. Happy Theme Day!
Living wood! Very nice for the theme. I love to see trees like this with roots laying on top of the ground. It somehow makes them seem more....what do I want to say...aware?
What a pretty picture of the tree and its roots. It also looks like an excellent spot for a snake to camouflage itself!
You're really living in a nice corner of the woods!
Great post, lovely you captured a closer view of the roots..very informative as well-
Aloha, Regina-
wow ! looks as if you captured the "floating tree" of life.
Impressive indeed to see his roots, as if in "motion". Please have you all a wonderful Tuesday.
Absolutely gorgeous, the lush greens. And what an amazing tree!! I'm sure more than one horror story has been written with the Octopus Tree playing the lead character! Back to reality, that truly is an amazing feat to have planted all those saplings!
This is wonderful; I love to see how tenacious nature can be. I posted sometime back a similar tree along the banks of the Mississippi. I think I'll go back and photograph it again.
The rainforest big trees have the most amazing roots! This one is a beauty!
