This is a photo of a boat billed heron who was lurking near the monkeys that I showed during the last few days. I expect that you can tell that this bird is nocturnal. Look at the size of its eyes. These birds grow to 51 cm (20 in.) in length.The jungle holds a wide array of wildlife. Costa Rica has more species of birds than all of the USA and Canada combined, even though it is the size of West Virginia or Switzerland.
