Costa Rica is home to many varieties of orchids. They can be seen in the wild, in planted gardens around hotels and condos, and in botanical gardens. I have a chart that shows different types of Costa Rican orchids, but this one is not on the chart, so I regret that I cannot comment on the type of orchid this is. I guess this shows that I can enjoy the diverse colors, shapes, structures and scents of flowers even if I am relatively ignorant about them.
Beautiful. I like to see such flowers like these. We don't have anything like them here.
ReplyDeleteI came back, at your suggestion on my blog, and had a look at the two photographs you have posted of the raccoons. I like them both and wonder why more hotels do not do what this one did and invite the wildlife in the area in. Nice photograph. Also the monkeys are nice pictures.
ReplyDeleteAbe,
ReplyDeleteYou are right that more hotels should take advantage of wildlife in marketing and as an enriching and entertainment experience for guests. That is particularly true in a country such as Costa Rica, which is a leading eco-tourism destination. Tourists do not come to Costa Rica to go through giant art museums; they come to enjoy wildlife, beaches, volcanoes, tropical plants, natural beauty and outdoor adventure experiences. The Capitan Suizo hotel uses a zoo-hotel theme in its marketing. It not only feeds the raccoons, but it also provides habitat for some howler monkeys.
