This is a great egret in flight over Lake Arenal. They are 141 cm (40 in.) long. There are many species of birds at Lake Arenal.There are 15 species of egrets and herons in Costa Rica. I believe that this is a great egret because of the combination of a yellow beak and black legs. On July 2, 2008, I posted a photo of a snowy egret. On July 16, 2008 I posted a photo of a bare-throated tiger egret. On August 29, 2009, I posted a group of cattle egrets.
