For Valentine's Day, I am showing a post of a wedding on the beach at Playa Langosta. There is a point on the beach about 100 meters from our Langosta condo that is very popular for weddings, particularly at sunset. Couples like to have a ceremony on the beach, often with some musicians, and then a nice reception and dinner in one of the many outstanding restaurants nearby, followed by their honeymoon, of course.This photo is not very close to the subjects because I wanted to keep a respectful and unobtrusive distance because we did not know the wedding party. Most of the wedding and honeymooning couples are from the USA. There seems to be a growing trend by people to have their weddings in exotic locations, and we have met a number of Americans around town at times who have come to Tamarindo for their wedding and honeymoon. Others come just for the honeymoon after their weddings at home.

I like outdoor weddings and where better to have one than on a beautiful beach with the sounds of the ocean. Also, much easier to photograph if you don't have to worry about the flash or other lighting.

I wonder whatever happened to "running away to get married" marriages? That apparently doesn't happen much anymore.
And the old custom of "belling" doesn't happen here like it did when we were married. We were taken on a wild ride on a load of straw in the back of a truck following by a parade of cars all blowing their horns until the police ran us out of town for making too much noise. Bellings used to be really common 53 years ago when Patty and I got married.
A wedding in Mother Nature's cathedral is a fantastic choice.
