J. W. Marriott Guanacaste Resort

This shows the setting of the J.W. Marriott Guanacaste Resort.  Sitting right on the ocean, with green landscaping and countryside all around.  The J.W. Marriott opened last year.

The hotel is the top-of-the-line of the hotel brands within the Marriott chains of hotels.  It is the first J.W. Marriott hotel in Central America.

There are different opinions about the development of large hotels along the northwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica.  They provide jobs and tax revenue, but they also require services.  They are often owned by foreign corporations.

What a beautiful setting. I especially love the mountains beyond mountains in the background. How do you feel about this kind of development? How does the average Costa Rican feel about it?

That is a very large hotel complex, but it looks as though it's out pretty far from the city. It must have to be a city in itself.

Brattcat,
You have anticipated the comments in my upcoming posts, in which I discuss the pros and cons of large scale resort development.

After enlarging the photo, it looks very laid-back and its luxury is hard to see. It could be the setting and trying to integrate it into its beachy surroundings. The J.W. Marriott's I've stayed in are close to the Ritz in their amenities. This one looks more casual...the beach looks very inviting. Great shot.
