Our front doorway

Today's Monthly Daily Photo Theme Day theme is doorways. This is the front doorway of our condo building on the beach in Playa Langosta. The tree that you see through the doorway is actually on the beach.

What is missing from this doorway? How about the door? Like many buildings in Costa Rica, there is no door and the entranceway and corridors are open to the weather because the weather is always warm. Most hotels and restaurants in Tamarindo do not have doors or walls.

Our condo is directly through this doorway towards the ocean, on the left side of the central corridor. Yes, we do have a front door to our condo unit.

The condo building has a distinctive mustard and pumpkin color. A friend of ours, Tim Keneipp, liked the colors and view of the end of this corridor, with ocean and trees framed by the archway and he gave us a painting that he painted of the scene. Tim is a talented architect and artist whose works can be seen on this link to LeafDogArt.com.

Today is Sunday, so we have posted more photos on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site This week, we are sharing some photos of one of the world's most remarkable, modern buildings -- the Sydney Opera House.

Beautiful building and a good story to go with it. Cheers and thanks for the visit!

Gerald,
In answer to your question regarding the wind, we often have a breeze off the ocean, which is always nice because our climate is warm. We do not get hurricanes on the Pacific Coast, unlike the Caribbean coast (although Costa Rica is south of the main hurricane area).

How wonderful! People there must be so trusting — and trustworthy.

A very nice-looking condo...I was watching a TV program the other night and noted that some houses in your area were, in fact, open to the outside...

What about all those nasty bugs, like mosquitoes?

Looks like a creamy, dreamy place with the ocean just outside your doorway! Great theme day photo!

I should explain that although the corridors and front doorway to the building is open to the air, each condo has locking doors and windows for security and so bugs do not get in. We have central air conditioning just like the USA.

Although crime is not a particular problem in our area, our condo building has a fence and wall and a security guard 24/7.

Almost all of the restaurants and hotel lobbies in town are open air. They have roof structures and you walk right in and are seated at a table, but they are open to the weather on the sides.

Love your header, btw!

Great photo of the condo. It's also open enough that the little animals can enter and scratch at the door in the middle of the night. Believe me, I know.

You live in a beautiful place!

Your condo building looks ideal. Terrific design. I love American southwestern colors and you place in Costa Rica fits right in with that palette.

The croc photos are very cool.
