A fish out of water

This is a fish out of the water, which is a good thing, as the fish is concrete. This is the swimming pool at our Langosta Beach condo. There are four of these fish fountains to add a little decorative and festive touch and to aerate and cool the water in the pool.

This photo shows how close the pool is to the ocean. You can also see the thick border of pinuellas plants that provide a barrier between the pool and the beach so people from the beach do not walk up and use the pool, as the plants have very sharp thorns.

I have in the past posted photos of pinuellas plants and Pablo, the gardener, who keeps the height of the plants trimmed with a machete so that the people at the pool and the ground floor condos have a view of the ocean.

Today is Sunday, so we are showing new photos on our travel photo site, Viva la Voyage. This week we happen to be showing photos from Costa Rica, which of course is what I show in this site every day. Some of our favorite Costa Rica photos are featured on our site that provides new photos from somewhere in the world every Sunday.

I like the play of water you've captured in this image.

I remember these "fish out of water". They are a very nice touch to the pool area scene.

It looks like the fish is shooting water into the ocean. Very lovely setting.

That really is close to the beach! You can take your pick of playing in the ocean or in the pool. Great picture showing both.

You have such a lovely place there, Dave...and so fortunate to be close to the water...unless, of course, a hurricane comes along...

I also like the way the condos were constructed. Got to have concrete block!

Jacob,
Regarding your comment about hurricanes, I am pleased to report that we do not get hurricanes on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Hurricanes do not cross the central spine of the country, which has very high mountains. Costa Rica is also south of the Caribbean hurricane path, although they can hit the country on rare occasions. When that happens, the low pressure system of the hurricane causes windy weather on the Pacific coast.
