If you look closely, you will see that there are bats on this tree trunk. They have chosen a tree that camouflages themselves very well. This looks like a tree with bark that has scales. What looks like scales on the underside of the tree are bats hanging upside down. Their little faces are looking right at you.It is not common to see bats on trees in Ccosta Rica. But, of course, I have no idea how many times I have not noticed them but they are there.

The bats are almost unvisible. In fact, for me, they become visible because of their 'regularity' on the tree.

ReplyDeleteI remember seeing bats on the trees when I was there. Or I should say I didn't see them until they were pointed out to me.

ReplyDeleteThey are well camouflaged! I had to enlarge the picture to see them. How interesting that they feel safe on the tree. We have bats in the building where I work but you almost never see them either. We have a theatre and they like hang out in the rafters, but every once in awhile they will fly into a hallway.
