These photos are from a couple of years ago, during one of our first walks south of our condo, across the mouth of the Langosta Estuary, and then we took an exceptionally long walk down the beach. It was easy to wade in the ocean across the mouth of the estuary when we started the hike.
On our way back, however, the tide was much higher and the mouth of the estuary was much wider. This photo shows one of my sons wading out to cross the mouth of the estuary. My wife, however, did not want to do so. She found a different way to make it back. I will show you what she did tomorrow and the days that follow.

Looking at the photo it doesn't look dangerous. Is there a swift undertoe? How deep does this get?
ReplyDeleteNow you have me wondering Dave! That water sure is a pretty color.
ReplyDeleteThis story reminds me of one time when we were camping on the Oregon coast at a State Park. The Camp Ground is on a high bluff but we spent most days on the beach. One day we had gone to a view point to watch the sunset and saw a coastguard helicopter flying about a quarter mile out along the coastline. We didn't think too much of it until the next day when someone called us and asked where we were during the tsunami warning. Shocked to hear of it, we did some asking around and found out that all the little towns around the park were evacuated the day before, but no one at the State Park told us about the warning. No tsunami hit the beach that day and if it had, we would have been safe on that bluff but would have been stuck there because the road out would have been washed away. But if we had been walking on the beach..........
ReplyDeleteComing from the North of Germany, where people use to walk much through the Northsea, there are time and again cases to be heard of people getting lost in between the island while forgetting about the tide.
ReplyDeleteNo such thing over here in Athens, maybe only a kind of "tide through the streets" ;)
Wishing you all always a safe step ahead and wonderful ones throught the weekend as well.
