Surf for the surf fisherman

Here is another photo of the surf fisherman that I showed yesterday. It is a good thing that the Pacific Ocean at Tamarindo is warm, otherwise this fishing does not look like it would be pleasant.

I think surf fishing is the opposite of ice fishing. Rather than sitting in one spot, motionless, with a fishing line dropped through the ice, surf fisherman burn lots of calories as they withstand the buffeting of the waves and cast their lines out to the ocean.

On Viva la Voyage, our travel photo site, we are showing photos of Chichen Itza, the large Mayan site in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.

Happy Birthday, Dude. It's hard to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground when you've got an entire ocean insisting otherwise.

Looks like a mighty difficult way to go fishing. After all that effort, I sure hope he caught something.

Happy Birthday Dave!!! It is hard tp believe this fisherman can survive those strong waves. He must like the rough and tough nature of the Pacific Ocean when it happens near a storm. Did you see any squalls? I saw one once when I was in Hawaii and it was so cool to watch a squall far out in the ocean and then come towards shore.

I used to go surf fishing with my father when I was growing up, but not when the waves were that rough!

Oh no! Watch out for the whale....Oh, never mind. It's a rock.

Looks like a "Happy Birthday" wish if in order.

How can he fish anything??? :-) Great capture!

You are so right about what different cultures think of each other!... but the greater the difference the more I'm fascinated.

What I like about this picture is that the man in it doesn't seems to need anybody to help him with that fishing. He is just going out there to get that fish. No friends, no family, just him and the sea.
