I decided to show one more photo of the flowers along the walkway to the beach next to our condo. This is a wild ginger flower, known locally as a cana agria. The flowers are about 7 cm by 10 cm, or about 3 by 4 inches. The flowers have a yellow throat in the center. They remind me of the size and shape of the cactus flowers in our backyard in Arizona that my wife often shows in her macro photos on her Scottsdale (Arizona) Daily Photo site.
These plants flower form July through October. They grow from sea level up to about 200 meters in elevation. This flower is only a few steps from the beach
