Estuary sand

Have you wondered what it is like to walk through the sand in an estuary environment? It is different than walking on the sand on the beach, such as the dunes shown in the top of this photo.

Water covers this sandy area more than half of the time, as the sand is exposed only at low tide. I will show you what the walking can be like. Tomorrow.

This week we are showing photos of the festive pedestrian street Las Ramblas of Barcelona on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

  1. I don't imagine that it is easy walking...will check back tomorrow to see.

  2. I don't think I would like the crabs underfoot or the shells for that matter. I prefer sand if I am going to the beach. My daughter loves the shell covered beaches.

Pepper Jax is doing well. He has recovered from his visit to the vet and the shots he got have not seemed to be a bother to him.

Thanks for your visit and comments on my blog.

  3. I love this low to the ground shot. When I visited Wales a few years ago I watched the water rise and fall in a little estuary right outside my hotel window.

  4. Dave,

I enjoy your pictures. I just found your site today, and I'm glad I did.

My wife and I went to Costa Rica last month, June 2011, and loved it.

I went for dental care (my story is at http://dentalcare.incostarica.org) and that went well, too.

While there, we went to Manuel Antonio National Park, Arenal Volcano and Doka Estates.

We had our eye on going to the NW coast, and from the look of your pictures, it looks great.

I think that will be on our list for 'next place to visit'!

I had such a good experience, both dental and tourist-wise, that I have decided to start marketing dental vacations here in the USA and in Canada.

I would love to chat with you sometime. If you want, that is. Send me your thoughts at kurtray over at g mail if possible.

Thanks again for the nice pics. I look forward to seeing more of them.

  5. Oh, it is a guessing game. I am going to guess that it is a bit like quicksand, but maybe not as much suction.
