A mangrove thicket

If yesterday's photo was not enough to convince you that it would be futile and frustrating to try to walk through a mangrove forest, perhaps today's photo will.

Crabs, raccoons, and monkeys travel through mangroves. Humans? We can float in a boat, or walk on a trail, but there is no way to walk through a mangrove thicket.

Tomorrow I will show you why it is important and beneficial that Costa Rica protects all of its mangrove areas.

Today is Sunday, so we have new photos on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site. This week we are showing photos of the Villa Melzi in Bellagio, Italy.

I jumped the gun and did a little research myself because I am so curious about this plant. Fascinating! Thanks for sending me on my personal odyssey to learn more...one of the benefits and offshoots of blogging!

What a tangle of stems. I can see it would be an impossible mission to try to find a way through that.

Looks like a basket. Really neat.

Nope, not going in there.

OK, you win, I'm not going through that.

Love mangroves. I remember in Cairns, quite near to the airport, they built a walkway right through the centre of a mangrove which apparently overcame any environmental problems and allowed visitors to view the mangrove, plants and animals at ease.

Apologies for lack of comments, Dave. July, summer, dogs, crazy.
