When walking in the estuary and looking at the shells, often times they move from the hermit crabs inside.
The local culture is not to take shells from the beach in protected marine areas.
This week we are showing photos of the festive pedestrian street Las Ramblas of Barcelona on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Quite a contrast today. This photo and your other blog shots.
I remember seeing these tiny little creatures hiding among the shells.
Treasures of a different kind.
I just read Julie's post of several days ago (I still cannot make comments on her blog), and I wonder how you fared this time after the latest dust storm?
I'm very much enjoying these shell/sand photos.
fabulous macro. very cool textures and images
These shells are very pleasantly colorful. Not screaming, but beyond subtle. I am sure there is a word for that, but it escapes me.
I'm sure I knew about shells providing a "home" for crabs...but this is a nice colorful reminder.
I wish I had some of these shells for some of my elementary school teachers. I mean, talk about "crabs"!
Cute little guy! My son used to have a pet hermit crab when he was little.
Now I know why there are so many shells left on the beach there! No beach-combing for shells. Good idea, otherwise these little guys would have no house.
Beautiful! Great colors & love the action shot.
I can almost smell the sea there :) Very nice, keep showing us more treasures!
