There is a lot of ventilation in this outdoor cooking part of the kitchen. It is under roof, but the walls are the chain link fencing that you see above the stove. Cooking here would be sort of like cooking on a camp fire on a counter top on a porch.
This week we have photos of the Atacama Desert of Chile on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site. If you have not been there, it is worth a visit to our website to see unique, colorful landscape.
This isn't exactly a Betty Crocker test kitchen, is it? We who have all the modern conveniences would probably be lost in this one; I don't think that I would be able to cook any gourmet meals here. It obviously sustains life, but I'd rather have my own kitchen; I'd probably be a terrible cook if I had to rely on this equipment.
ReplyDeletePretty primitive, Dave. And I don't see a microwave oven or a Cuisinart.
ReplyDeleteYour Detroit story has a familiar ring. Those of us who travel often have encountered many obstacles. I once landed late in Detroit and missed the last flight to Columbus. So, I rented a car and started driving south without a map or GPS. I drove through the night and managed to guess my way back to town in time for my morning meetings.
Hmmm...I think I prefer a more modern way of cooking...although as I may have mentioned, my grandmother cooked on a wood stove with a huge wood box right next to it (that was in northern Minnesota back in the 40s and 50s)...
ReplyDeleteInteresting series of photos on these houses. Certainly a different lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth :)
Interesting to have this outdoor style kitchen!
ReplyDeleteRustic is the word that comes to mind. Makes me think of how very spoiled I am.
ReplyDeleteThat scene can be a start of interesting still life painting. Would you like to make a try?
ReplyDeleteHi Dave...re your comment on Ocala: Personally, I think you're right. But I couldn't get close enough to confirm my suspicions.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe he was writing out his will? ;-)
I just can't see me cooking a meal on here Dave, but I guess it's what you're used to, I bet they cook up some good food on this!!
ReplyDeleteI will be glad to see your sketch on this photo. Go ahead!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comments and attitude!
