Naxos condo

Most of the condos in Tamarindo are small garden condo complexes, such as our Langosta condo that is four stories tall, with a total of 20 condos. There are a few tall condos, however, such as the Naxos building shown in this photo.

The taller condos are somewhat controversial, however, as they extend above the trees and are visible from a distance. The height, of course, enables owners and renters to have a view of the ocean even if the condos are set back from the beach.

It is no longer legal to build tall condos on the beach. The Naxos building shown here is set back about 200 meters, or two blocks, from the ocean.

This week we are showing a few more photos of Julie's recent trip to Nova Scotia, including a quaint country church and lobsters on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

  3. I think this place was under construction when I was there (if this is the one just down the road from you). I do like the lower ones better for this environment.

  4. I was surprised to see such a big building, but your text explains it. Like the others, I would vastly prefer lower lying structures that integrate better with the natural environment of Costa Rica.

  5. It looks like we're unanimous Dave, tall buildings out and low lying in!! You just can't be having those structures spoiling the beautiful tropical island feel there.
Was really pleased to hear that everyone knew where Perth was, sometimes I feel like we're the forgotten city of Australia and really for 'way of life' it's been shown that Perth is the best place to live (I'm not really biased in any way haha) and yes Bali is only 3and half to four hours away, closer than Sydney.

  6. Hopefully they will continue their plan of low level buildings. It's one of the charms of Costa Rica

  8. I agree with no tall condos on the beach. I also think that the beaches themselves should be for everyone and no one should claim a piece of one as "private."

  9. It's a wonderful idea to restrict the height of the condos. The building looks very nice but I agree with the rest of the bloggers!
