Here is a photo of the building that I have shown glimpses of in my posts during the last few days. This is a view from the beach.
This is a private home called Casa Marrakech. It is 10,000 sq. ft. (929 sq. m.), with 5 bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms.
It was designed by Abraham Valenzuela, the same architect who designed both of our condo buildings. He is also an accomplished rock musician, and lead singer and lead guitarist of the band Las Tortugas. Here is the band's website.
I think this house is remarkable enough to warrant a few more photos in the days ahead. This house is available to rent,, and celebrities have stayed here.
We have photos of the Islamic architecture of Egypt posted this week on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.
Wow, I never would have guessed a private home.
ReplyDeleteIt does look pretty amazing Dave, the architect sounds like a very diverse and multi talented character.
ReplyDeleteThat looks a bit Islamic? But what a place! I suppose if one has to ask what it costs to rent it, one cannot afford to rent it!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have guessed it was a home. It is quite grand. I spy a couple guys on a roof in the picture.

ReplyDelete'm not particularly fond of exporting architectural styles. I'd rather keep Moroccan architecture to its original region. I know we're moving towards a global world and there will be more and more of this but I feel we're losing something in the process : regional identity. It's a lost battle though. Fortunately, local cultures die hard and it will be a while before Ticos act, think and live like Moroccans! :)
ReplyDeleteWould love to take a peek inside.
ReplyDeleteIt is an odd architectural choice for a country as lush and green as Costa Rica. This looks like it was designed for an arid desert.
ReplyDeleteIt would be so much fun to rent this place for a group of CDP bloggers!
