Chorotega pottery is one of the few traditions that remain from pre-Columbian culture in Costa Rica. Today, of course, the motifs on the pottery are stylized to appeal to the tourist market. In Guaitil, you can watch artisans make the pottery and buy directly from them. You can also buy the pottery at shops in Tamarindo, such as this one, and from vendors who walk on the beach.
