On our Minnesota canoe portage that I have been relating, after carrying the canoe that Julie dropped and left behind, I found her carrying a load that she found to be more suitable for her. Two fishing poles. Our 11 year old niece was carrying a heavy pack. Julie rationalized this incongruity by saying that our little niece was strong because she plays ice hockey. (Our niece is now getting her Ph.D. in marine biology.)
