Beach reading

I was amused by the bookstore labels  for books identified as "trashy romance novels" and "more trashy romance novels."  People apparently like to read romance novels at the beach.  Guests who stay in our condos leave books that they have finished on our bookshelves, and many of them are romance novels.  We have our own mini library in the condos.

Here is a link to an earlier post I did about the bookstore in November 2008 for a City Daily Photo theme day of "Bookstores."

Here is a link to the website of the Jaime Peligro Bookstore.

This week we have a posted photos of the wildlife of Africa on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

It's always interesting to see the kinds of books people leave behind in rentals. Unless it is true VRBO, the novels leave something to be desired. Last year our landlady had a marvelous collection of books that really suited my taste, but this year it's the same old "trashy" novels. But in each city I always manage to talk my way into a user's card. Salvation. I brought along my Kindle Fire but it's so new I haven't really gotten into it yet. The library and used bookstores are my places of choice when out of town and staying for a while.

Interesting that the bookstore marks the shelves this way.

That is called Truth in Labelling.

I was reading Nate Silver's book, The Signal And The Noise, about the art and science of forecasting. Life is too short for trashy romance novels. I'd rather learn something.

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be
really something which I think I would never understand.

It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward
for your next post, I'll try to get the hang of it!
