I mentioned yesterday that we don't have any Starbucks in Tamarindo. We also do not have any McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, or any other U.S. hamburger/fast food places. We do have a Subway, however, and a TCBY.
This Subway shop is only about 1/2 block from our Diria condo, and it is a convenient place to go out and grab a sandwich for lunch and bring it back to the condo if we are working through lunch and do not have time to enjoy one of the many restaurants.
This week we are showing photos of Nicaragua on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site, featuring the doorways of the Spanish Colonial city of Grenada.
Dave, I'm happy that it is convenient for you, but fast food!? Whenever I am abroad and see signs of America's fast food franchises, I wonder why we have a propensity for exporting the worst aspects of our culture. I have to admit, tho, that while driving cross country, Mc Donalds sometimes is the only reliable option in sight!
ReplyDeleteI like Subway even though I got very sick from one of their sandwiches a few years ago. And I think Subway is one of the lesser evils of the fast-food industry.
ReplyDeleteSo far, they are being selective about what chains they let in.
ReplyDeleteWe just can't keep out fingerprints off the rest of the world, can we? My daughter and son-in-law patronized this place when they stayed in your Diria condo.
ReplyDeleteI am OK with Subway, though it would be better if there were no American chains there. At least there are some relatively healthy choices at Subway. Just ask Jared.
ReplyDeletewell if you are going to have a fast food place, this would be the best I would think.
