So far, so good, as this group of young women walk down a little path that connects the beachfront road with the beach in the southern end of Tamarindo bay.
This reminds me of a time that I had the bad judgment to suggest that my wife join my brother and his family and me on a Boundary Waters Wilderness Area canoe trip.
After paddling several miles down the first lake, we had to carry the canoes, paddles, fishing gear, and all of the camping gear and food about a mile to reach the next lake. More on that challenge in the days ahead.
We have photos of the wildlife of Africa posted this week on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

As always, we wish we were there... Would be a nice change from the wet weather we're experiencing these days.
Your story sounds familiar though I was a lot younger. But we used to go fishing each year either in Canada or in Michigan. And once we got to Michigan, we would fish a day or two in one lake and then portage everything over to the more wilderness lake. Nobody liked to make the move and sometimes fishing wasn't as good as the lake we had just come from. I like your photography.
Life is fill of challenges Dave, this is one that I can't see in my future haha!
Off they go!
I can already see the challenge coming in your story.
I can't ski. I can't ice skate. There isn't a chance I could ride a surfboard. I'd rather stand on the beach and take pictures.
Portaging is the least favorite part of the Boundary Waters.
