Yesterday I discussed Costa Rican money a little. And speaking of money, there was an article in the newspaper about a big dispute and government proceeding because a new train line is opening up connecting the capitol of San Jose with the outlying city of Cartago, 16 miles (28 km) away. The dispute is over whether the fare should be set at 550 or 565 Colones. That is the difference between $1.10 and $1.13 USD. I have never heard of such a controversy over three cents.
Today is Sunday, so we have new photos posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site. This week we are showing photos of the architecture of Grenada, Nicaragua.

They are such delicate objects, I'd think that they'd be crushed quite easily.
Sounds like a controversy that our congress could easily start fighting over, especially if our administration made the proposal.

The urge of humans to prettify their environment is very strong.
That amount does seem pretty small to be fueling a big debate. Maybe it is a good illustration that money is far tighter in other countries than in our own.
I'm completely unaware of railways in Costa Rica. Wouldn't it be nice to have a rail line between tha capital and, say, Liberia?
The cheapest metro system we've ever ridden is in Buenos Aires. When we were last there the fare was well under a dollar. London has got to be the worst.
