Their howls can be heard as far as 3 miles (4.8 km) away. The purpose of the howls is thought to maintain spacing between the territories of different groups of howlers. They travel in groups, sometimes as large as 15.

I've heard them at the zoo here Dave, I thought that was imppressive enough, can't imagine what it must be like in the wild like this. You got a great shot here, my camera can be a pain. if there's anything between me and my subject it tends to focus on the closest thing!
