The National Theater

Costa Rica's National Theater in downtown San Jose is a point of pride.  It is an architectural copy of the Paris Opera House.

I will show photos from downtown San Jose in the coming weeks.

This week we are showing photos of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia, Argentina, on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

This is a gorgeous formal building. Quite different from some other images from Costa Rica.

That is not a building I would expect to see in Costa Rica.

Quite impressive! I'm wondering if they have Operas here.

Why are we so surprised to see this building? I like the tie-in with the Paris Opera House?

I was going to say it looked familiar...I've got a picture from Paris that looks much like this one!

The resemblance to the Palais Garnier is obvious. We've been to CR a half-dozen times and never thought it was worth the effort to visit the capital. We will have to talk to you about it.
