Leafcutter ants on the move

What looks like little bits of leaves in this photo are actually leaves being carried by leaf cutter ants. If you click on the photo to enlarge it and then zoom in, you will be able to see that there is an ant carrying each of the leaves in the photo. On the forest floor there will at times be a stream of green leaf fragments as the leaf cutter ants form a line to carry the leaves back to their nest.

Hey, Happy Thanksgiving!! If I'm not mistaken, I think I was eating sushi with you last Thanksgiving!! I wonder what interesting meal you are having this year.

Sharon,
You ae correct. Last Thanksgiving you, Julie, Taylor and I enjoyed a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner of sushi at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Mendoza in the Argentine wine country.

This year we had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner yesterday with Taylor and his girlfriend, Anabella, and her delightful family in Buenos Aires. Argentines do not eat turkeys and it was remarkable that someone who did not grow up helping to prepare the traditional Thanksgiving meal was able to roast a turkey and prepare all of the side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin squash, and more. Anabella went to a lot of effort to prepare such a feast, particularly on a day that is a work day, not a holiday, for Argentines.

And the wine to accompany the Thanksgiving dinner came from the LaGuarde winery in Mendoza that we visited with you last year at Thanksgiving.
