"Hey, we should be monkeying around"

Let's move up the food chain from the reptiles of the last few days to mammals. The white-faced capuchin monkeys in this photo love to jump around on the roofs of the boats that carry tourists up the Tempisque River in Palo Verde National Park for wildlife tours.

At moments like these, I wonder what these monkeys are thinking. These two monkeys seem to be communicating with each other by reading each other's body language.

This week we are showing photos of Iceland on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

  1. Cute. And I'm sure they do have some sort of language.

  2. Great shot!! They are so cute yet can be so destructive while in captivity. I've heard some horror stories about their behavior while owned as pets in private homes. I say, leave the animals in their natural habitatl.

  3. Fantastic shot. I think they are saying "what do you think it is today, bananas or pineapple?"

  4. Nice composition. No, Kate, I would not be even slightly tempted to take one of these guys into my home.

  6. You can be sure they are thinking! Cute little critters. Do they bite if you get too close?
