iguana profile

Here is a photo of the profile of a green iguana, to complement yesterday's photo looking straight into the face of the iguana. The large round scale on their jaw is a characteristic of their appearance.

It is the early part of the dry season now, so the iguanas have recently mated. Each male guards a territory containing 1 to 4 females during the mating season. Something seems out of balance with that ratio, unless maybe some of the other males have killed each other off, or driven them deep into the forest or jungle.

This week we are showing photos of Iceland on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.
