I assume that the monkeys interacted with the Native Americans even more than they do with modern people, as the pre-Columbian cultures certainly lived in closer proximity to wildlife than modern people.

It looks like a playful little monkey.
If it weren't for the tail, I might not have known it was a monkey. It's and interesting depiction.
This is an interesting piece. The artist composed the monkey's posture nicely, not the usual straight-on.
What an amazing series of artefacts from the Gold Museum Dave, especially as you say that non of the gold came from the surrounding area.
