I love that you quite often leave us with a puzzle to try and work out Dave haha! I'm taking a wild guess and saying that perhaps he's in the room where they smoke the fish/meat?? Will check and see if I'm right tomorrow.

Open fires in the dwelling were the way to cook until technology came up with better ways.
The symphony used to perform in the big hall, but five or six years ago they moved to the smaller hall. The audience is graying. They have not solved the problem of interesting younger subscribers. Broadway does sell well. Even though we are close to NY and Boston, many folks like the convenience of a local high quality show.
