These cows are more typical of the barnyard animals that one would expect in the corral, rather than the miniature deer that I showed in yesterday's photos. The smooth skin and big ears are characteristic of Brahman cattle, which are the most popular breed in our area of Costa Rica. They are better adapted to the warm, humid weather than other breeds of cattle.

This ranch has quite a few of them. They are such interesting looking animals. Saw quite a few of them wandering the streets in India many years ago. I love the way they are grouped together in your photo...a bit like a family.

Quite an international photo. I have a very similar shot taken in Patagonia, and another taken in Borneo. Brahman cows are taking over?!?

I like cows. Spent lots of time with them as a kid on grandma's farm.
We have a bunch of Brahma cattle on the ranch next door to Stone Creek...most are whitish but some have markings like these.
There is at least one cow (back right) that looks a bit underfed - bony!)...

They are unusual by New England standards. They seem small and skinny.
We have lots of Brahman cattle here in Texas (although I've never seen this color or markings as ours are all white or pale gray) where they have adapted well to our warm climate. You have the same luck as I. Every time I get ready to take a picture of a cow or calf, they lift their tails and proceed to do you know what!
