Why did the cows cross the road?

After the cars and motorcyclist shown in my last two photos had passed, the cowboys decided that it was time for the cows to make a left turn from their walk down the right side of the road, and cross over to the other side.

I will keep this series going for a few more days.

This week we are showing photos of the dry, mountainous Atacama Desert of northern Chile on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  It is quite a contrast to the lush green coastal lowlands of Costa Rica.

They used to ask kids that question except it was, "Why do chickens cross the road?"

The answer was: "To get on the other side."

My memory is the same as Abe's. I wonder if hearding cattle is as difficult as hearding cats?

There must be a good reason!

These are colorful cows. The herds I see in New England more often just have a single kind and a single color palette. Each one of these cows has a different color and pattern.

I hate this new word verification approach. It takes a lot of time to decipher, often wrongly, and I wonder if anyone gets so much spam that it can't be handled simply by doing a daily deletion of the few that get through.
