You can see that cars kick up a fair amount of dust on the unpaved back roads of Costa Rica. In some towns they spread on dirt roads a sealer made from a molasses-type of by-product of sugar cane mills. It keeps down the dust. They do that sometimes on unpaved roads in Tamarindo. I like it, as it smells sweet when you walk around.

This is a nice composition. I'm glad to hear they try to cut down on the dust for that would be a huge problem for bicyclists and walkers.
I've never heard of a sweet-smelling road before! But I've drive some pretty stinky roads! :-)
Looks like a wide and well maintained dirt road.
I love the smell of the molasses when you walk down the dirt roads. there are more paved roads each year which does change the area from the rural dirt roads atmosphere
Reminds me of when I was a kid and would walk down country roads.
I would like to ride a bicycle down that road. No hurry, no worry......That would be nice.
Actually the dust makes a quite nice effect under that 'bridge' of trees.
I've only visited Tamarindo twice but I've driven or been a passenger on a whole lot of these roads. You see tiny compact cars rolling down them but I feel much more comfortable if I have a 4WD vehicle.
