After yesterday's photo of a giant mangrove tree, here is a photo of yet another giant tree, although this one has toppled over in the soft, damp soil right next to the mangrove swamp.

Love the mangroves today and yesterday. They are remarkable trees.

That soft, wet soil must make it difficult for some trees to keep their footing.
I suppose they have a shallow root system because they don't have to go far for water and nutrients. When violent Midwestern thunderstorms topple a big maple or oak we see a serious rootball.
