Pulling in the fishing net

This fisherman is bringing in his net to gather in a few fish scooped out of the current at the mouth of the Langosta estuary.  I did not see him bringing in large fish, but he was certainly catching more fish than people who use a rod and reel.

This week we have photos of Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

I enjoy watching fishermen, esp those who use nets. It's also fun to watch them unfurl the nets.

I love watching them toss these nets.

Netting is a special skill. The only time I tried it, I think I fell head-first into the water!

I remember seeing people fishing in a different way when we took the estuary boat tour. They were standing in a wide part, waste deep in the water, holding a single fishing line into the current. No pole. There were alligators not too far away. Not for me.
