This closer photo of the type of flower I showed yesterday revealed that ants evidently are attracted to the flowers, as this photo shows.

Nice little extra find there Dave, I think there may be a little nectar attracting the ants. This really does look like the same species as the Bird of Paradise.
Good eye, could have missed seeing this little guy.
