Who said fishing is calm and tranquil? Fishing in the surf, particularly standing so close to the breaking waves, can add an element of excitement to waiting for fish to take the bait.
It is a good thing that this guy was wearing his swimming trunks while fishing because at times the waves would splash over the rock were he was standing.
I took this photo on Playa Langosta. Part of Playa Langosta has a volcanic rock flow into the ocean, so there are great tide pools, and the rocks magnify the sound of the crashing waves.

Love the splash of the wave. Perfect timing.
Exciting fishing indeed! I wonder if he had any luck getting a fish to bite his hook?
Love your surf shots. This beach looks fabulous, dogs in the water yesterday and now a fisherman.
I would think fish would avoid the area for fear of crashing against the rocks…
Great photo though!
He definitely has the look of someone who has done this before. I like the way you capture his confidence, pleasure, and comfort in this shot.
This makes me wonder how successful he might be in such churning water.
I guess this fishermen really likes the idea that he could be washed off this rock by any one of these waves. It does look like fun. But a little dangerous?
nice photo - not unlike something i would see here in Sydney. It's nice to live by the sea. I love it!
Wow! This could be pretty scary.
God! The more I watch your blog, the more I ask myself (and my wife) why we're not in Costa Rica yet!
But right now, it isn't possible. AAAAAAAAAH!!!
looks a little dangerous as well, right?
but, yeah, wish we were there.
as a matter o'fact, my daughter visited, once again, she LOVES the surfing scene in Costa Rica.
we just HAVE to make time to go there.
