The Marriott Hotel near the international airport on the outskirts of San Jose is located in what used to be a coffee plantation. The driveway was lined with coffee plants, as this photo shows.
Tomorrow, we will begin exploring the area outside the hotel.

I don't think I've ever seen a live coffee plant before.
Have always enjoyed staying in the Marriott's Dave, looking forward to seeing more of this one.
I wonder who the first person was that decided to grind up coffee beans and make a drink out of them. Whoever it was, I'm glad!
I've been in abandoned coffee plantations in Cuba, and wonder why they no long exist. Perhaps it's world economy and supply and demand? Or could the developers make an offer that the owners cannot resist?
