I am starting a new series today from a visit that Julie and I made to San Jose. We stayed at the Marriott near the international airport, which I am showing to begin this series.
I have mentioned previously that Costa Rica does not use street addresses, but instead people give directions from a place whose location everyone will know. If you go on the Marriott website, it will give the "address" for the hotel as "700 meters west of Bridgestone/Firestone." The Bridgestone tire factory is next to the freeway that leads to the airport, so everyone knows where it is.
Tomorrow I will show what surrounds this Marriott Hotel, then I will show some photos from a walk around the area.
Today is Sunday, so we have new photos posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site. This week we are showing photos of the Sepik River tribes of Papua New Guinea.

It looks nice. We try to stay at Marriott hotels whenever we travel. Most of them are well-kept and clean. Funny way to give directions but hey, if it works....
The hotel looks bright and sunny even on a cloudy day.
It's a beautiful hotel.
It certainly looks like a grand spot.
It must be fairly new. I don't remember it from our flights through this airport, but it's been years since we've flown through there.
When my daughter was in high school she volunteered with Amigoes de las Americas and spent some time going from village to village doing dental hygiene, working with kids and distributing tooth brushes and toothpaste. She lived for weeks with a local family, and I doubt that she stayed in a place like this!
